Question by dc w: Ways to convince my parents not to send me into rehab?
Im 19 y/o I have a job, in college and have my own car that I bought with my own money, some of my friends smoke pot and often when I am around them they offer me hits for free. I almost never buy my own and never bring the stuff home or come home high out of respect for my parents and there house. My mom has been suspecting that I smoked for awhile and straight out asked me today. I told her the truth that I sometimes smoke and that its not a big deal she freaked out and basically told me im going to be kicked out if I don’t go to rehab right away. I see no reason for this, I am not addicted and it changes my life in no way. Can anyone give me some tips for calming her down? Thanks
P.S. please don’t call me an idiot or tell me im going to die from smoking pot, that’s simply not true and if you think that please do your research.

I am addicted to Vicodin and need to know how do I go about getting help. Or is there any medicine that helps to wheen off of the drug. I have tried with doing it on my own but i start feeling hot, antsy, very restless and a bad uneasy feeling, diarrhea, headache, all of these symptoms plus more. I really need to know if there’s medicine or What do I do to get off of these. Oh also I was prescribed some when I first tried them and just like the feeling after I didn’t need them anymore and got addicted. Then i tried stopping but couldnt because of the effects when I tried stopping please any suggestion or comments that are helpful.

There are several options for you when you decide to begin treatment for your Vicodin problems. The first decision you will have to make is whether you should enter an inpatient or outpatient rehab program. If your addiction is severe, entering a rehab center on an inpatient basis might be the most effective route to take. The best candidates for outpatient therapy are those who have a strong support network at home, consisting of friends and family.
Whether you choose an inpatient or outpatient program, you may opt to go through the process of withdrawal on a residential basis, where licensed medical personnel can help you get through the process with as little pain as possible.
Once you have decided on the type of program, you will need to figure out the best length of stay. he sees several (I do not know exactly how many) doctors and gets different prescriptions from each of them, they are a mixture of sleeping pills, anti depression pills, muscle relaxers, pain killers, moriphine, and probaly a whole lot more than I know of. He mixes these pills with whiskey. He also does not take the dosage the doctor gave him, but 2-3 doses at a time, and 2-3 doses later that day and so on. He can’t remember where he is, what he is doing, he mumbles weird stuff, and it is getting very hard to continue living in this arrangement. ( He lives with me and my husband and our child due to a financial hardship, my mom and brother also live with us) My question is .. who do I contact to maybe get him some professional help… we live in AZ. He is 62ish, and I am afraid that he will one day OD.
Yes my mom has seen it, but unfortunately she is afraid of him, because he can sometimes become violent, not like physically but with his words. I did forget to mention that on July 3 I have an appointment with his doctor, and I intend to address these issues with him, but I guess I worded my question wrong, (since it is so late at night).. can I have him put somewhere that will monitor his medicine intake? I can guarantee he will not go willingly.

Does your mother see any of this? Hasn’t his insurance company questioned all the medication he is taking? I am suprised that he is given morphine as it is a VERY controlled substance and is almost never given out as a prescription.
You need to get your father out of your house and away f rom your child. What if your child gets hold of the pills or wiskey?! Call his Primary family doctor and tell him what you have stated here. He is responsible for some of this mess and he needs to be responsible for straightening it out before your father kills himself or someone in your family. Your mother also needs to step up and do something about this. Also, has anyone approached your father about what he’s doing? How about taking all the medication and wiskey away from him when he’s passed out or asleep?

the thing is unless he wants help there’s nothing to DO but prepare yourself. my sister was same way and did accidentally OD. try to talk to him, but ultimately it will be his decision.
