Michael Vick’s drug treatment scam?
Question by Kirk: Michael Vick’s drug treatment scam?
Am I the only one that noticed he suddenly developed a drug problem that needs treatment? I thought the NFL regularly tested for dope. Did his advisers tell him to smoke a joint to get out lightly?

He only tested positive after the charges were brought to him I think. But since he applied for the rehab he can be out in 12 months and be on time for the 2009 season.

Unfortunately, too many doctors over rate drug therapy. The drugs they give people for manic depression, as bipolar was once known, effect all the neurons in the brain and many of those that control muscle reaction. Insurance companies prefer drug treatment because it is cheaper than long term psychological therapy, so the insurance companies offer doctors incentives (kickbacks) to prescribe their brand of drug for so called disorders.
Psychiatrist use a simple term to tell patients they need drugs. They claim the patient has a chemical imbalance in there brain and the drugs will correct it. This is a lie, they do not even take samples of the brain fluids before making these diagnoses but the licensed pushers do not want the public to know this. Artificial chemicals are not the same as any the brain makes.
The drugs they push do cause chemical disorder in the brain where the block neuron transmitters and receptors from communicating. It takes a long time to get off prescription drugs although the doctors usually claim they are not habit forming. Habit forming and addictive to them must be two different concepts.
Your friend has been labeled by the mental help community as having severe mental issues and only a miracle can get him off the drugs and away from the pushers. Good Luck

Amphetamine Abuse (strange symptom)?
Question by lancee813: Amphetamine Abuse (strange symptom)?
I know someone (60 yrs. old) who was abusing dexadrine and then adderall for over a year, during this time I noticed that they were constantly humming this short tune, over and over and over again, all the time. This humming began around the time the abuse began. He was combining the amphetamines with Vicodin , Effexor, and Seroquel. He has supposedly been clean of the amphetamines for the last month yet the humming continues. Could this possibly be a sign of brain damage from the drug abuse? Also, why did the drug induce this constant humming in the first place? Thanks for any help..

amphetamine
Powerful synthetic stimulant. Benzedrine was the earliest amphetamine marketed, used as a ‘pep pill’ in World War II to help soldiers to overcome fatigue, and until the 1970s amphetamines were prescribed by doctors as an appetite suppressant for weight loss; as an antidepressant, to induce euphoria; and as a stimulant, to increase alertness.
Indications for its use today are very restricted because of severe side effects, including addiction. It is a sulphate or phosphate form of C9H13N.

christian treatment programs??
Question by stolenvoice_x: christian treatment programs??
I am looking for a christian based place to go for residential treatment. I was looking into Mercy Ministries and I am pretty much a no on that and I am a DEFINITE NO on teen challenge. Preferably somewhere in Michigan. Mercy seemed so practical because it’s free, and really sounds like what I need but it’s pretty far away and they require a 6 month commitment and I don’t think I could commit to that. I am struggling with a lot right now… I am only now dealing with a rape that occured in 2002, I have been self-injuring for 10 years now and drug/alcohol dependent among lots of other things. I have been in the hospital (mental ward) about 13+ times now, residential rehab once, outpatient rehab once, I guess the list could go on.. I really need some help…. really bad… soon.. I think about suicide way too often.
I’m really scared of being in a strict, religious environment. I was raised christian but walked away from god and the church and I get really angry when I think about god, or hear people talk about him… almost enraged..
I don’t know if I can handle it.. and as for strict, I’ve always been allowed to do what I want.. so yea, I’m terrified… but I need the help. Possibly long term but not a year long.. 🙁 I dont know what to do!!!!! I need help but nothing has worked!
because like i said, nothing else has worked.

positive mantoux, child care center…HELP!!!!?
Question by LeAnn S: positive mantoux, child care center…HELP!!!!?
I have a history of negative mantoux tests, decades. In mid-August I had a negative mantoux, and then last week I had a mantoux test for another job. I had immediate intense itching, eyes burning, scratchy, developed hives on my neck on the car ride home. I have gone to an infectious disease dr, they did AFB cultures, when can I get the results? My current job, started in September is at a daycare center, w/ +/-100 children and >100 families involved. Employees are not required to have mantoux tests in child care centers in MN. I am very concerned someone is spreading TB at the child care center, but the health dept. is not!! I have had very little contact with anyone other than the children and employees there. Kids (some adopted from russia, india, etc)and adults have been coughing since I started working there. Was it the allergic reaction that caused the positive TB test, or a booster effect, or? If you have kids in child care centers, make sure all workers are screened!!
It was a transdermal PPD Mantoux, not a multi-pronged test. Induration measured 22 X 21 mm. Adopted children from foreign countries are cleared by a physician in that country, not the U.S. MN is a state that no longer screens children, uless there are symptoms that would indicate the test. There are many symptoms of TB, but most common are cold symptoms and a cough that lasts greater than 2 – 3 weeks, sometimes blood streaked, fatigue, night sweats, low fever. How many times do you think doctors see children with cold symptoms? It’s just a cold, right?
Just because there is medication available that could hopefully kill it off, should we not try to prevent the spread of the disease? I had two mantoux tests within that time 1.) for a state license I needed, and 2.) for a new job that required it within 30 days of hire. False positives are possible from a booster effect, go to your favorite search engine and type in “tuberculosis booster effect.”
Many misconceptions w/TB.

How come you have so many tests? As far as I know, a positive means one of two things : You have the decease in an advanced stage, or you were expose to it. In your case, must be the last one.
