I never met my cousin until a week ago. I just moved here to FL from PA, so that’s how we met. We talked on the internet for about a year before i moved down here, too. We had a lot in common, we both loved art, wanted to do tattoos, and had some of the same “issues.” He happened to be just getting out of prison when I moved down here, so I went to pick him up so that I could meet him as soon as he got out. After that, he began calling my house at least 5 times a day. He really opens up to me about a lot of his personal issues, too. He also made a deal with me that if I were to quit smoking then he would quit doing drugs. He also says that I am special for being the only person to EVER make him quit. One day he wanted to see me so bad, that he actualy bribed his mom with a tattoo so that I could come over. I went over, and he sat right next to me on the couch the WHOLE 4 hours I was there at his house. He continually kept trying to shake my hand and ask me “what was up” even though that was already discussed. He also hugged me A LOT. The hugging and the handshaking was proceeded by him telling me how he doesn’t trust women and he wants to find a good one. As he went to take me home, he gave me a good 30 second hug, swayed back and forth and said “thanks for coming over, i love you.” Last night after talking to him until my phone died, we met up on the internet and started talking. Then, he had said..”I want to get my dick wet.” He is always telling me about his previous relationships, why they ended, etc. I have noticed that my cousin and I formed a bond really quick, because he is always telling me about his life, personal things about him, and calling often. So..based on what I am saying…does he like me more than a “little cousin.” Please, no rude remarks. I am just as weirded out as anyone reading this will be,so try to understand my situation and answer honestly. thanks.
PS. I AM 18 AND HE IS 27.
ALSO, WOULDN’T HE WANT TO HANG OUT WITH HIS FRIENDS INSTEAD OF TALKING TO ME ON THE PHONE? AFTER ALL, HE JUST GOT OUT OF A 2 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE.

WOW that’s messed up, that is a little to much cousin-ey love!! I think he does have a thing for you and it could be fueled by his lack of relationship skills with women… coming from prison and what not.. Now that you are being super nice to him, he is treating you like a girl that he wants to “get with”! His actions and comments are inappropriate and I think you need to do something to slow his infatuation

Any advice from previous addicts????
What if he is refusing treatment? refusing to go to hospital etc
Also rehab clinics cant force someone to stay. We checked it out already.
Talking is not working with him. He already lost his wife and 3 kids….he got another wife who is a druggie..she does the shooting for him. they just had a baby that they also lost bc of the drugs she took in the pregnancy that affected the baby so bad he was on morphine for 1 month. Now …the situation is really bad he is drugged up all day and cant even drive or doesnt konw what day it is

I’m curious on the specifics of this. My sister is 24 and and alcoholic and we are not sure which drugs she is taking at this point in time. Does she have to go on her own or can we somehow make her go? She denies everything and says she isn’t doing anything.

I feel like I’ve hit my limit. I’m going to be 18 in a month. She disrespects everyone. She steals everyone’s money. And the worst part about it is, she was a thief, a liar, and a nasty person before she became an addict. I believe she is burnt out. She is belligerent toward everyone. She behaves mentally. I keep talking to my dad about how it is hurting us all that she is living with us and it is really disruptive to my education and well being, as long as my little sisters. She hit my little sister yesterday, and she wont go to school (she was supposed to be starting this week). She wont even do simple things that my mom asks her to do (like the dishes) and the other day I overheard her say to my mom “I don’t care if you’re dead! I’ll kill you and go to jail for life!”
She’s 23. I keep trying to tell my dad that she’s burnt out but he wont listen and thinks she will get better, when really things are getting worse every day. I want to move out, but I have nowhere to go. I don’t feel safe living at home….

First: Talk to your parents. Sit them down and tell them clearly and firmly your beliefs and your observations. State that she is not getting better, but worse, and that her problem is taking a toll on all of you. Bring your sisters into it, talk about their health. Put into motion a plan in which there are locks on doors, passwords on computers, and protection on money/wallets.
Second: Get help from someone at school or outside your family. See if you can set up a connection with a social/drug worker or an abuse counsellor in your area. Constant, concentrated help makes all the difference.
Third: See about your eighteenth birthday. I’m not an expert on all the benefits being an adult entails, but I think that having “someone who is poses a threat or danger to themself or others” removed from theri vicinity is one of them.
Stay strong.
