I am sorry for the pain that you are suffering. Please go to an Al-Anon or Nar-Anon support group. These groups will help you deal with the suffering which will in turn provide an indirect assistance for your daughter. These groups are free and the group nearest you can be found ont their internet pages or in the local phone book. You will be with people who understand your problem and want to help you. Helping yourself right now will be the best help possible for your daughter. Good luck!

Should Peyote (drugs) be legalized?

Question by Helen: Should Peyote (drugs) be legalized?
I am doing a debate in class about whether or not Peyote, the mind altering drug used by Native Americans, should be legalized. I am against this.

Could anyone type in information as well as send me links to cases and debates and any other information that could help?

I’d also like to hear your opinion on the case! Thank you! (:

Answer by oracle2121
My opinion is no. life is difficult enough straight. not just my opinion, it’s a fact. taking drugs impairs our abilty to keep focused on the responsibilities in life, keeps us from being fully present in our lives, and makes us overall-LESS.

Why is the DEA so concerned about states that have already approved marijuana as a medicinal drug?

Question by Kewl_Prez: Why is the DEA so concerned about states that have already approved marijuana as a medicinal drug?
It seems to me that the DEA is sending in battalions of men and women to close medical marijuana facilities. Do the states not have sovereign rights? Here in California the DEA has spent MILLIONS on attempts to close legitimate dispensories. This mis-use of government funding could (and should) be put to better use patrolling our borders for smugglers of heroin or cocaine, or for eradicating the country of the legitimate blight of methamphetimines.

Best answer:

Answer by Cal
I agree. Im from the Bay Area and its sickening that our state legalizes it, gives people prescriptions, then the DEA comes in and arrests those people as they are walking out of the dispensories and shut them down. If tax payers across the country had a clue of what was going on, they might speak up about it. Nobody seems to notice except people in California. Its disgusting. Meth is so easy to get ahold of in California and all I have to do is not speed in my car until I get home and I’ll get away with it, but if Im a cancer patient or someone who has a medical issue that needs marijuana, I will be arrested when I show up to pick my prescription up.

I am looking for resources on addiction therapy??

Question by irishfirefighter762: I am looking for resources on addiction therapy??
My wife is in therapy for a sleeping pill addiction and I am not happy with the progress that they are making in therapy. I wont to be able to talk intelligently with her about my concerns and possibly have some other option that would be more productive. My wife has not been evaluated with any test I am concerned that the therapist may not know how sever the addiction may be. She is a function addict with a job and every thing that everybody elts dose. It seams that the therapist is giving her unconditional positive regard and my wife seem to be feeding in to it with the theory that things are going grate in realty she had a small relapse just one month ago. I have read a little about Roger theory off and think that this might be the case here. I would like to request a Michigan drug dependency test. What is you though and advise I do not wont to change therapist because we have already done that once. Do you know of any websites that I might be able to read up on addiction therapy? The therapist now won’t to work on our marriage and I think that is totally the wrong direction because I think the addiction is what should be concentrated on. Please any advice would be great and if you have canceling experiences please let me know!!

advice about elderly abuse?

Question by Crystal B: advice about elderly abuse?
My grandma is a victim of elderly abuse. She is being taken care of by her daughter and she is the one abusing her. not physically that I know of but she is not changing her or taking her to the bathroom when she needs to. She is also taking her social security check and using it for her own means and buying drugs. This I know for a fact but can’t prove it. Drugs are being done in the house my grandma is living in and there are more than 3 families that are living there with her. The house is dirty also. I have already called the elderly abuse hotline and they did nothing about it so I don’t know who else to contact. Please help me before I have to bury my grandma

Best answer:

Answer by Adrienne
This is horrible. If she is stealing your grandma’s money, then that’s enough to call the police. And if she’s using it for drugs, even more reason.
I can’t imagine it would be easy to calll the police in a situation like this. But if the hotline isn’t responding and your family isn’t currently doing anything, legal action needs to be taken. The police will meet with you, ask you questions (you can even do it privately) and then they will investigate. With the new heathcare laws coming into affect, she may be able to get a caretaker from the state.
Wish you luck.

how much does it cost to go into drug rehab?

Question by DeadDeadDead: how much does it cost to go into drug rehab?

Best answer:

Answer by frank
ain’t too cheap. I worked at one in Anchorage, alaska and I wanna say a day in detox was about 165 and a day in non medical residential treatment was about 80 something. However, most people just declare themselves homeless so they can qualify for medicaid and similar types of social programs. Also, there is a chance that the facility will let you in without payment and bill you later. After all, it is very well understood that rehab centers are generally money losers. Especially some what faith based ones like the salvation army
