People from other countries, especially Canada, come to America to take advantage of our health care?

Question by Altair 1: People from other countries, especially Canada, come to America to take advantage of our health care?
system’s advanced and superior health care. If Obama has his Socialized health program put into effect, everyone will be in the same boat with the Canadians. If you are of a certain age, Obama’s system will not pay for certain medications or treatment since it would be considered too costly to allow you to live. He seems to be counting on this little diddy in the program to save major bucks. So in a few words can we just say that if Obama has his way with his Communistic Health Program, you can just kiss your asss good bye?

Actually, as many as 2 million Americans travel overseas to get health care that their American HMO won’t cover. This doesn’t include the millions more who purchase prescription drugs from canada and Mexico.

What will happen if mental health and alcohol treatment centers are closed?

Question by Patti: What will happen if mental health and alcohol treatment centers are closed?
in cities? There is one being “merged” with an adolescent unit in town, even the local legislator says it’s just a sneaky way to shut it down. About 500 patients use it per year. Do you think closing it down will increase the crime rate? The legislator says it will end up costing the state more than leaving it open, it costs $ 16,000 and up to house a prisoner. I think that crimes involving alcohol and drugs and psychotic people will increase if the center is closed.
We already got people living in the woods near Wal-mart and suspect that they go there to eat their way through the store and steal spray-paint to sniff while in the woods. Police have found empty cans of paint and large pieces of carpet they cover themselves in and said that they sleep there. Just wondering about when the woods get over-crowded and they come into the neighborhoods. The homeless shelters are over capacity as it is when the weather is bad.

The crime rate will go up and there will be a lot more people not able to support themselves by working. It’s always better to get help for an addiction than to just punish someone because of it.
These are illnesses and should be treated as such

Answer by wasacon
Yes. The people that are using the services have to go somewhere. So they will end up in ERs with no insurance, crime will go up, prisons will take some of the burden, some folks will end up in mental units and/or nursing homes (because I guess they have lots of money to provide care?) Also, I think I can guarantee that some people that use these services are employed, and without this care and counseling they will lose what jobs they have.

Sounds like a lose/lose to me.

so i need some help with my parents and drug abuse?

Question by rintin: so i need some help with my parents and drug abuse?
ok, so i am a 15 year old living with both of my parents. long story short: my relationship with my parents is not so pleasant AT ALL, and it never has been. (especially my dad) i have been told by many (other adults, peers, family) that my parents are lazy, disrespectful, and abusive to me….im just going to leave it at that. they have almost been divorced about 3 times. but anyways, they smoke pot EVERY DAY..atleast 3 times a day. and i am thinking they do it to simply tolerate eachother, and i have noticed that when they are not high, that they are very easily angry, and rude. i mean, to a point where it is rediculous. and i ofcourse do not have a great past of my own, but i have definatly learned to not let them get to me and cause my depression to make me do stupid things.

anyways, i was wondering, is it illegal to be smoking pot (and somewhat alcoholic) when there is a child in the house? and i really think that this is affecting there actions and attitude towards me. i mean seriously….i CANT WAIT TO MOVE OUT.
also, my boyfriend that i have been with for 8 months, and his parents have told me to leave the house…..but i dont know if it is really nessesary?

I honestly think you should sneak out and live with your boyfriend. I mean, that’s what I would do. But you need to do what you think is right.

Should Christians not use drugs?

Question by euphoric(k): Should Christians not use drugs?
If not, where in the bible does it say not to?
And I’m talking about illicit drugs.
… you can use certain drugs for spiritual purposes, they aren’t just for fun, and they don’t all harm your health.

and if our bodies are a temple, then what about junk food
I didn’t say I was using them, I’m just curious what the bible says about them. That’s it. My brother was just saying how biblically there’s passages that say against it’s use…

And the bible is very important to me, so yes it does matter very much what the bible says.

Best advice available: GET A LAWYER!

Answer by rejectedzipper
You really have no effective defence.
Unless a court appointed lawyer can see some procedural error made by the police or prosecutor then, frankly you are better of pleading guilty, look ashamed, maybe squeeze out a few tears and concoct a story about a foreign student you met on the street who gave you them and said he/she would came back for them but never did.

It’s your best shot, but keep it simple, no fantasy just “I know that under the law I’m guilty and that’s why I’m pleading guilty but this was NOT my stuff, the guy gave it to me and never came back”

Of course you only know he was “foreign” maybe German or Dutch, average looking, about 20, medium height said his name was “Hans” – and that’s ALL you know….
